A Informal Introduction Is In Order…

Hello, my name is Chuck Aube, also known as ‘401’ a nickname given to me by Steadicam Legend, Ted Churchill. Ted was a once in a lifetime friend, and a ‘Rockstar’ in his chosen craft, he created the ‘Steadicam Operator’ after Garrett Brown invented the Steadicam.

Once Garrett invented the Steadicam, he had no idea how to market it to the masses, let alone, explain it to other ‘eager’ Camera Operators & Cinematographers; Enter Ted.

Here I am with Ted in Rockport, ME in the very early 1990’s @ the Maine Photographic Workshops where he often taught a Steadicam Workshop.

Let’s STOP right here for a second and let me explain a couple of things;

1.) First, I lead a ‘Semi-Charmed Life’- NO not like the song of the same name, but REALLY A SEMI-CHARMED, as you will see later in following stories.

2.) Second, I have had MORE THAN MY SHARE, OF CELEBRITY ENCOUNTERS. This would include, Ted Churchill (of Course) he was a Celebrity in the Movie Making World.

3) Third, The stuff that happens to me is in fact unbelievable, but it IS the TRUTH. Hey, I can’t even try to make this shit up!

Let me give you some names to ‘chew on’ for now: Ted Williams, Eartha Kitt, Carl Yastrzemski, Rod Stewart, Harry Chapin, Steven Spielberg, Janusz Kaminski, Bill Clinton’s Private Secret Service Detail, as well as, yes, you guessed it, Bill Clinton (sorta) and the list goes on…

If I sit here on my computer and think about it the stories will come to me, but then I end up moving away from my keyboard, and getting some friends together, and and telling them some never heard crazy stories from the days when ‘Stuff Like This Just Never Happened’.

Some of my stories are Fun, some are Dark, and some are down right Tragic, couple all of them Together, and you have my LIFE.
